Good friend, super tech blogger, and Mighty Freeware Hunter, Rick Robinette (well known to many regular readers here as an informative guest writer and, as the owner of What’s On My PC), has a topnotch free deal happening right now on his super tech site – Bookmarks4Techs.
Rick is spot on when he makes the point –
If you own an Android Tablet PC or Smartphone, this app is a MUST HAVE. It is remote software that allows you to remotely access and stream content from your home computer to your tablet computer or smartphone. Very cool app… Get it FREE – TODAY ONLY!
From Bookmarks4Techs:
You’re out and about with your Android device and you suddenly realize that you need to access a file sitting on your home computer. You’re stuck, right? Not if you have Splashtop Remote Desktop, an app that brings your entire computer to your phone or tablet.
Note: If you have an Android 3.x tablet, it is recommended that you download Splashtop Remote Desktop HD. This version features enhanced performance and is optimized specifically for Android 3.x/Tegra-based tablets.
With this app, you can control your home computer from your Android device via Wi-Fi or a 3G/4G connection. Get Splashtop Remote Desktop and you can view your desktop, use your regular Web browser with your plug-ins and bookmarks, and access all your important PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook files.
If Android is your thing – take a run over to Rick’s site and get in on the action. If you’re in the IT game, then I highly recommend that you capture Bookmarks4Techs in your Bookmarks/Favorites.
Hi Bill,
Bummer, they don’t want to play ball with me because of my geographical location even through a VPN. That SUCKS!
Cheers,
John
Hey John,
Absurd – ludicrous – I’m trying not to curse, so I’ll stop there.
I passed this on to the members of my group and, despite the Chief’s war bonnet I wear around here – I had to take it from all sides. Both my connected devices are BlackBerries so, I had no idea this was a restricted offer. Globalization? What globalization?
You’re right – “That SUCKS!” I’ll go on the hunt for an offer ONLY available in Oz. We’ll show them. 🙂
Watch out for sunburn, this weekend. 🙂
Best,
Bill
Thanks buddy,
You crack me up :-).
Cheers,
John
Hey John,
LOL!! That’s my job – don’t ya know! 🙂
Best,
Bill
Hey… Just noticed that you are about to tip the scales here at 4 million… Bill – that is phenomenal !
Rick
Hey Rick,
Well, luck is a funny thing, huh? I see BTW, you’re ready to leap past the Million mark. Now, how cool is that??
To tell you the truth – I wrote an article last week entitled “We’re Gonna Get Rick to a Million!”, in which I asked my guys to pop on over to your place to pump up the volume. I’ll send over a copy early next week so that you can determine if it’s the sort of thing you feel is appropriate.
Best,
Bill
Bill,
Yes… Anything you do; I will appreciate!
Rick
Hey Rick,
Will do. I’ll send it over early in the week.
Best,
Bill
Hey John,
Just got a note from Rick. Checkout Softpedia – Splashtop Streamer 1.7.0.4. That should do it.
Best,
Bill
Bill,
I’ve been testing this app out this evening and it is awesome. I will never go to my desktop again (LOL). I think this thing has been so popular that the site had been up and down to download the Splashtop Streamer (which is the software needed to install on the host PC). HOWEVER, I did find this software at Softpedia: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Remote-Utils/Splashtop-Streamer.shtml
Thank you very much for this post…
Rick
Hey Rick,
Gotta take care of my guys over here by pointing them to the best, ya know. 🙂 And, you’re one of the very best, my friend.
Thanks very much for the update. John W. will be pleased. 🙂
I hear ya – mobility is awesome. I’m having a blast with that 32 GB BlackBerry I picked up over Christmas. I’ve been wandering all over Toronto testing hotspots. And, I’ve been totally blown away with the inadequate security I’ve seen. My local Library, if you can image, allows connections despite the fact the site security certificate is fraudulently. Horrific!!! I blew my stack at their IT department. What a bunch of incompetents. More on that in an upcoming article.
Have a great weekend.
Best,
Bill
Hi Bill,
Many thanks to you and Rick for once again going above and beyond it’s much appreciated.
Cheers,
John
Hi John,
Good to hear that worked out well.
Best,
Bill
