WordPress Back Online

image WordPress suffered an unexplained outage earlier today, and took down over 9 Million Blogs with it. But as of now, it’s back up. I know, you wouldn’t be reading this otherwise – right?

I read some interesting Tweets, Buzzes, and Blog postings when WP was down, many of them along the lines of “I’m going to move my Blog to self hosting, WP sucks”.

Yeah, right! As if Gmail, Hotmail, MSN live, Google, Yahoo, to name just a few, have never gone down! I have to say – their are more bitchers out there than I realized. Especially, when one considers that WP is not only a free hosting service, but arguably, has the best blogging platform at any price.

So, stop bitchin’ (those that are), learn how to be appreciative – learn how to say “THANKS”. To quote Forrest Gump, “That’s all I’ve got to say about that”.

    Hey Bill,

The first sign of trouble and they want to run. Let them, we are better of without them. In real life, sometimes problems arrive, it’s called dealing with it. I’ll still be coming by, I have to have my daily fix of Tech News.

“Today WordPress.com was down for approximately 110 minutes, our worst downtime in four years. The outage affected 10.2 million blogs, including our VIPs, and appears to have deprived those blogs of about 5.5 million pageviews.” ~WordPress official blog.

Should’a been more than 10 millionblogs were taken down.

      Hey Adrian,

Yeah, well I was just amazed that there were so many WordPress blogs.

Anyway, for those who are going to change to self-hosting, remember you won’t get hits anymore from the WordPress.com blog listings or tag lists.

Bill Mullins would make WordPress great all by himself. My favorite internet resource and I sure appreciate his help and information. I find others who contribute here to also be of value. Very few maniacs as far as I can tell. Bill Mullins once a week would still be awesome. Every day is a bonus. Consider me grateful and there are no complaints here.

  4. That was the first problem I have had with WP since I started using it, I might have missed any other problems in the past just because I wasn’t on at the time. But even so, they resolved the problem rather quickly. And made sure that everyone knew about the problem after it was resolved. I think it was handled perfect, and there is no reason for anyone to complain.

      Hey xLucas,

The same here – first problem ever with WP. I agree, the problem was rectified smoothly, and in good time.
