Hearing it through the ‘‘grapevine” might be ok, when you want to hear the latest neighborhood, or office gossip. The problem with the “grapevine’, as we all know though, is the facts tend to get distorted and twisted.
Listening to “grapevine” type news on Internet threats, or computer system tweaks, or listening to advice from Uncle Joe (who heard it from his buddy Steve, who’s an “expert” with computers), is almost sure to lead to unsatisfactory results. Just like the neighborhood/office “grapevine”, information from these sources tends to get distorted and twisted.
I’m a big fan of companies that do their utmost to educate users on Internet security related issues, or who offer advice on system related issues so that computer users don’t have to rely on second hand information.
In some cases, these same companies are well known for providing free security applications, which are often supplemented by additional system applications.
Comodo Group, the developers of a number of very well known free applications including, Comodo Antivirus, Comodo Firewall, Comodo Time Machine, System Cleaner, Comodo BackUp, and you may be surprised to learn, many, many more, is now offering a series of instructional and informative videos that are extremely interesting, persuasive, and in some cases, rather humorous (not a bad thing when all is considered).
Watching these informative videos, will definitely help an average user increase Internet security awareness, as well as gaining answers to some very common system issues.
The Comodo TV site, is broken down very neatly into the following areas:
ComodoVision - Covers Internet trust and security news, solutions and important developments.
Solution Spotlight - Profiles the features and benefits of specific Comodo products and services.
Smart Strategies – Examines major Internet trust and security challenges and what to do about them.
Security Insider – Offers commentary on major current developments in the critical cyber-security arena.
HowVision – Explains how to get the most out of Comodo products and services.
Como-dy – Funny, irreverent, or just plain weird videos tackling the lighter side of Internet security.
ComodoCommunity – User-generated content from people like you about Internet trust and security.
The following videos are just a small sample of what’s available:
Avoiding Viruses from Adult Content Sites (You’ll love this one).
Adult content sites are among the most popular on the Internet, and among the most likely to infect your computer with viruses or other malware. This video explains the most common infection scheme.
Desktop Security – ComodoVision Consumer 6
Semi-monthly news magazine for consumers on Internet Trust and Security. This edition features a recap of the major Internet Trust and Security stories of 2009, some suggested Internet Trust and Security New Year’s resolutions.
Comodo How-to.
Here’s how you can boost your PC’s performance with a few quick steps.
Desktop Security – Dangers on the Web
Dangers on the Web shows some of the dangers facing all Internet users today in a way that we think people will easily be able to relate to.
Many of us have a learning style in which both hearing, and seeing, are important components, and if that’s your learning style, you’re sure to enjoy Comodo TV.
Update – January 25, 2010: Comodo has just released a new video entitled “How To Feed the Needy; Starve Scammers” which deals with cybercriminals unconscionable use of the Haitian tragedy. I encourage you to view this video.

Hi Bill,
Totally off topic here but just wanted to say, welcome back and glad you’re feeling better.
Thank you Paul. Not yet operating at 100% but (for an old guy), I’ll take what I can get. LOL
Best,
Bill
Comodo Internet Security (CIS) is an excellent security suite to keep malware off a clean PC.
Comodo use an HIPS product which goes by the name of DEFENSE +.In my experience people who are not computer savvy just like to click the “allow” button when a pop up “pops up” without reading what the pop up is stating and this is where there problem lies. You click the allow button and you let malware on to your computer.
Now,I have to say here I love comodo Internet security suite,it is free and is more powerful than any other suite you can pay for but you need to know what you are doing before downloading CIS.My advise would be for the readers is to download CIS and when comodo’s defense + pops up read what the pop up is saying then google the item which is wanting permission to go on your PC,if any doubt click the “block” button. There is a useful tool which does help you with these decisions and that tool is called “Threatcast” which is already built in the comodo suite, when it works it is good.Threatcast just allows you to see how other comodo users have dealt with the defense + pop up,did they allow that program to run are did the other users block it.The comodo antivirus is not as good as other anti viruses for example Kaspersky, but comodo are really working on their antivirus engine and also, you really don’t need an antivirus if you master comodo’s defense + component.Comodo’s firewall is excellent, you really can’t beat it or say anymore about this superb firewall.
Comodo will be releasing CIS4 in February,2010. CIS4 will have a built in sandbox module for users to use.If you are familiar with sandboxie or geswall then you will be able to use Comodo’s sandbox with ease. Also, Comodo have added a lot more programs to their whitelist thus meaning less pop ups from their defense + module.
Comodo’s time machine is excellent too, much better than the system restore program on your PC.If your PC isn’t working properly for whatever reason then send your PC back in time to where your PC was in good health using the comodo time machine.
I recommend anything from Comodo but users beware of the any system cleaner, please use wisely as one mistake can make your PC unusable. My opinion on any registry cleaner is to keep away from them unless you know what you are doing.
I do not work for Comodo in any way or capacity but I am on their forum and I do use comodo’s software, which has kept my PC clean for years and I paid not one penny for that privilege.
As stated by Bill, if you need to know how a comodo product works just go here http://www.comodo.tv/category/programs/comodo-vision/ and watch the videos.
Don’t pay for your Internet security, there are better products to use which are free.
All the best, Andy.
PS. Hope you are well and in good health now Bill.
Thanks Andy, I’m almost at 100%.
Good news on the sandbox feature, which will be added to CIS4. I think we’ll see a lot more sandboxing apps in 2010.
Your point on system cleaners is well made – this type of application seems to becoming more aggressive lately.
Bill

Bill: Thanks for helping spread the word about a better Internet generally, and our effort at Comodo.TV to do some of the heavy lifting.
We just posted a new video about sensible precautions to take prior to making an online donation to help out in Haiti.
Sad but true, the cyber-scammers have invaded that space as well….
Thanks again.
