MozyHome is one of the most popular free Online Backup Services available, and with good reason – it’s a snap to use!
MozyHome gives you 2GB of space allowing you to backup your data over the Internet. And when you need to, the backed up files can be restored over the Internet.
MozyHome includes a Windows Explorer context menu which makes restoring files very easy. Right click on the file you want to restore, and Mozy gives you a list of all previous versions of the file. As well, Mozy incorporates a virtual drive explorer in Windows, that allows you to view the files you’ve backed up without having to access the Internet.
Just like death and taxes are a certainty, the fact that your computer’s Hard Drive will crash one day and refuse to respond, is every bit as certain. So when that inevitable day arrives, make sure you have access to your backups quickly and efficiently.
Take a look at MozyHome – it could be the easy solution to backup you’ve been looking for.
Additional fee based plans are available, for both home and business, which include substantially more backup space.

I’ve been using MozyHome for well over a year (maybe 2) and it’s very reassuring to have an offsite backup just in case the worst happens. I also use GFI Backup to an external drive and to optical storage. I only back up personal, volatile files to Mozy, so I never get anywhere near Mozy’s free 2.2GB limit.
My only complaint is the amount of time it sometimes takes to back up a tiny amount of data. I don’t know what the holdup is. I’ve been known to shut down my PC at night while it’s in mid-backup as I can’t be bothered to wait.
Another good tip though, Bill.

A very smart use of a free resource Dave.
I have to agree with you, backing up “personal, volatile files to Mozy”, is reassuring. It’s simple, free, takes little effort, and pays big dividends in the event of a HD meltdown.
I hear you on the time issue though – I’ve occasionally done the same thing.
Bill
